10-year-old Martin lives with his family in a remote forest. He is conversant with the language of the wood sprites, but begins to miss “real” friends as puberty sets in. When his parents take in war refugees from a distant Bosnian town, among them the 12-year-old girl Teah, Martin’s fairytale-like life begins to change. His magical world is threatened by progress, just as Teah’s earlier life was destroyed by the war. The end of childhood looms large.
