15-year-old Saimir has fled with his father from Albania to Italy, where they trade their impoverished existence for life as members of a gang of human smugglers. The son accompanies his father on nocturnal tours during which they herd fellow Albanians into the back of their lorry. When a new freight includes a number of young girls, the boy is faced with a dilemma – he is all too aware of the evils of human trafficking. Deliberately casual and atmospherically compact, the director links a discussion of moral issues with a coming-of-age tale.
