Teenager Ado and his 11-year-old brother Sani are paying their traditional summer visit to their uncle in Ljubljana. However, no return to Mostar is scheduled this year: their parents have died in the war. They travel to the Slovenian capital with hope in their hearts, but meet with a cool reception in the housing estates on the outskirts of the city – “scum from the south,” the neighbours call them. A quiet coming-of-age tale with resounding empathy for the world of youngsters confronted with life’s first crossroads.
