Masked boys on a lorry. Destination Italy. A stop in Budapest. Strict orders not to put a foot outside the warehouse, but Alex makes a run for it. He races through the streets and rings a doorbell. His brother Sasha opens the door to an unexpected visitor. “You’ve not half grown. How’re things back home?” Alex tells him about their parents in Russia. “So why haven’t you written the past four years? Mother’s worried.” Suddenly Sasha vanishes, leaving Alex to put his question to the unresponsive dark hallway: Can he stay here, with his brother? A film about emigration, told between the images.
