PHILIPP THE SMALL
Philipp is much too small for his age. He suffers agonies about his stature, and tries all he can to look bigger. One day he is given a magic flute. At last, it seems, he’s found the solution: All he needs to do is play a beautiful tune, and he can shrink or enlarge things. But wherever he attempts to deploy his magic flute to a good end, he only causes confusion. It is only when his flute loses its magic powers that he finally receives the recognition he sought: Thanks to all his practice, he has become a great musician.

Herrmann Zschoche - born 1934 in Dresden. He studied directing at the Film & Television Academy (HFF) Potsdam-Babelsberg. He was employed by DEFA as a director in the children’s and youth film department, and directed a number of television productions after 1990.
