THE LOVELIEST RIDDLE
Farmhand Matěj is in love with the rich farmer’s daughter Majdalenka, who returns his affection. But her greedy father, anxious for his daughter to make a good marriage, drives him off the farm. The wanderer Matěj then hears that the king has announced that his daughter’s hand will be given to the suitor able to solve three obscure riddles. Sharp-witted Matěj sets out for the Court immediately, and successfully answers the three questions. Instead of the princess as a reward, however, he boldly requests a handful of gold ducats so that he can finally marry his beloved Majdalenka. But will the king consent?

Zdeněk Troška - born in 1953 in Strakonice. Studied at the Lycée Cernot in Dijon. In 1978 he graduated in film and television direction at Prague FAMU. He made films for cinema and television.
