THE PARTY AND THE GUESTS
A cheerful picnic in an idyllic forest clearing is rudely interrupted by strangers who begin to tyrannise the party. While the rest of the group soon submits to the unknown men, Karel remains obstinate. His friends, intimidated, make their new loyalties clear, and a pursuit of the outsider begins.
The lead roles in this artistically impressive parable on the mechanisms of totalitarianism are played by important Czech artists like the directors Karel Mareš and Evald Schorm as well as the composer Jan Klusák.

Jan Němec - born 1936 in Prague. Studied at FAMU, Prague from 1954 to 1960. After 1968 he emigrated to Germany, then to other countries in Western Europe and finally, in 1977, to the USA. He returned to Czechoslovakia in 1989, and still makes films.
