the Candidate
Jonáš Karásek‘s debut film is a beautiful portrayal
of a sordid business. Adam Lambert, the
wealthy and adroit advertising agency director
receives an assignment from influential circles
sixty days prior to the upcoming Presidential
elections, according to which he should promote
a hitherto completely unknown candidate.
Lambert loves a challenge and thus gambles his
entire fortune on the enterprise. He doesn‘t suspect
however that his every move is under observation,
and his every word recorded. A political
thriller on corruption and abuse of media power
in Slovakia, where the so-called Gorilla scandal
grabbed nationwide headlines in the run-up to
the 2012 parliamentary elections.

Jonáš Karásek - – born 1976 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia (today Slovakia). He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, department of industry. Produced and directed mainly commercials ans video clips. KANDIDÁT is his debut feature film.
