ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE PROVINCES
The homecoming of TV star Nastia creates havoc in a normally sober, quiet small town. The celebrity has turned her back on a career so meteoric that her friendships suffered. Unwilling to put up with that kind of life a second longer, Nastia wants to turn the page and start all over again.
The new beginning turns out to be more momentous than Nastia imagined. She finds herself engulfed in a frenzy of adulation from local youngsters who were resigned to living in a provincial backwater. For them, the return of a star opens up wholly new prospects. But the scenario of hope meets a sudden and tragic end. And life reverts to the way it was before.
An unsentimental, melancholy view on life in provincial Russia, far removed from the glitter of Moscow.

Katya Shagalova - born 1976. She studied screenwriting at the VGIK, and directing at the GITIS, both Moscow. She has directed for the stage in Moscow and Europe. Odnaschdy w prowinzii is her second feature film.
