The end of the Soviet Union ushered in the simultaneous demise of the political, economic and social system of Kyrgyzstan. After a period of radical transformation, many Kyrgyz view the present situation as absurd and chaotic. This opinion is shared by the heroes of this film: three young men who’ve been friends since childhood, each of them getting on with life and struggling with everyday problems. Erkin is forced to end his affair with a neighbour because his wife found out. Barkit, a student, has embarked upon an obscure religious quest that could end with him throwing himself in front of a train. Despite all these problems, they end each day with a farewell celebration for Stas, who never stops dreaming that his entrance for visa for Germany is about to arrive. A tragi-comedy about Kyrgyzstan’s post-Soviet generation in search of its place in the new world.
