It's no coincidence that the translation of the film title sounds like a pub name: Whenever Jerzy, when sober a successful author, finishes detox he catches a taxi to the aforementioned pub in order to “warm up”. Afterwards he cleans up the flat, takes the rubbish out, does the shopping and the whole process starts anew, always meeting the same end; a painful and yet swift withdrawal treatment. What every addiction therapist has long known is a fact often ignored: Alcohol dependency is a problem by no means restricted to the educationally disadvantaged.

Wojtek Smarzowski - – born 1963 in Korczyna, Poland. Studied cinematography at the National Film School in Łódź. His debut feature film WESELE won the Polish Film Award for Best Film. His follow-up work DOM was able to build on his previous success, winning an award for Best Direction at the 2009 at the Gdynia Film Festival.
