As opposed to Germany, where the boy scout movement is relatively insignificant, in Poland it has remained an active and influential force through the decades. The movement hasn't always been about camping and camp-fires however: During the German occupation the scouts, acting as so-called Gray Ranks, played an important role in the resistance, distributing pamphlets, throwing stink bombs into cinemas loyal to the occupation and, at times, participating in armed combat. The film reconstructs one of the organisation's more spectacular actions, the liberation of twenty-one Gestapo detainees in March 1943 not far from the Warsaw Arsenal.
