Anja would appear to have a promising career
at university ahead of her, not least due to her
affair with a professor. One day however her old
flame Dima appears at the door, as he proceeds
to entangle her in his drag habit. Soon both are
arrested by the police, Anja manages to escape
however, and finds refuge in an orphanage, where
she meets Christine. The latter wants to escape
to Kazakhstan, where her grandmother lives, and
thus they set off together across a barren landscape.
The film‘s outstanding camera work allows
director Ilmar Rang to create an emotional bind
between audience and protagonist, thus allowing
the viewer to share in the protagonists‘ search for
a new family and a new home.
