Kammerbühne

The multifunctional hall of the Kammerbühne offers a variety of possibilities for productions of drama, music theatre and ballet.

Every year in November, the Kammerbühne becomes a cinema hall for the Cottbus FilmFestival and the adjacent canteen becomes a series lounge inviting you to watch films in a relaxed atmosphere.

Old-established Cottbus residents still know the Kammerbühne as the "House of the Construction Workers". From 1967 it was indeed used, among other things as a canteen, by construction workers who built the "Platten" (slabs) in Cottbus. From 1981, the house was then the theatre's interim venue during the extensive renovation work on the Großes Haus. In 1997, the transformation of the "House of Construction Workers" into the "new" Chamber Stage began. It was ceremoniously opened on 5 November 1999 with Goethe's "Clavigo". Gradually, the workshops were also moved from the Großes Haus to this building complex. Since then, the Kammerbühne has presented itself as a multifunctional theatre for drama, music theatre and dance as well as for moderated events such as the "Theatertreff" and the "Kaffeeklatsch mit Prominenten".
