With whom, and why?” This fantastically shot portrait provides insight into the inner life of a young woman due to undergo an operation in unconventional imagery that is both dreamlike and yet true to life.

In this, her fictional debut, documentary filmmaker Wiktoria Szymańska enchants with a wonderful dreamscape captured in black and white as a lonely girl, surrounded by forests, mountains and animals, discovers a magical new world.

There are good and evil deeds. Yet how is one to tell these apart at the age of ten, whilst playfully imitating a serial killer? The only hope is the advice of his fellow altar boys or, failing that, the experience of a challenge that unexpectedly pushes him to his limits.

Jana sits in front of the mirror, where she combs her hair and then tenses her muscles. Her face speaks of strength and determination, as well as vulnerability and self-doubt. In two days' time she is to leave family and friends behind to start a new life in Michigan.
