Gewitterzellen

Storm Cells

Jakob Schmidt
Germany, 2015, 31 Min

When Jana brings her new boyfriend Jonas home she has no inkling of the fact that Jonas and her mother are bound by a long-kept secret. Thus she sets in motion a psychodrama in which the safety of the secret constantly remains on a knife-edge.

Jana met her boyfriend Jonas in a chat room and resolves to bring him home. What she doesn't suspect is that Jonas is her half-brother. Jonas, in turn, is keen to find out why his mother Charlotte abandoned him when he was but a baby, before soon learning that she's reluctant to reveal what was hitherto a well-kept secret. Jonas' determination to regain his rightful place in the family sets off a game of cat and mouse between mother and son in an absorbing family drama that delves deep into the psychological depths of the human soul.
