The film WAVES by Jiří Mádl has made it onto the shortlist for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards!
WAVES tells the story of a radio station employee in Czechoslovakia who is torn between loyalty to an authoritarian regime and family ties to his rebellious brother. The film's strong narrative thread and Mádl's thoughtful direction have secured it a place among the 15 international films still in contention for the Oscar in the “Best International Feature Film” category.
As part of the 34th FilmFestival Cottbus, WAVES was presented in the Hits section, an area of the festival that honors entertainment with brains. We are delighted to have brought this extraordinary film closer to our festival visitors.
