Sergiusz Opaliński, one of the six participants of the Polish-Czech-German student jury of the “U18” youth film competition at the FilmFestival Cottbus 2016, won the Grand Prix of the 8th amateur film festival in Cottbus' Polish twin town Zielona Góra with his film THE POWER (MOC) at 16th March. The ‘Star Wars’ parody is about a group of students, who are supported by none other than Krzysztof Kieslowski during their high school diploma - the here master-Yoda-like all-knowing over-father supports the fight for the top marks. Opaliński used some fx effects. The Polish cult director is the patron of the 5th Lyzeum in Zielona Góra, where Opaliński goes to school and the film festival is organized every year on the anniversary of Kieslowski's death. Congratulations!
With the presentation of the Sorbian-language short film MĚR, the FilmFestival Cottbus contributed a film to the program, which won the Special Prize of the Foundation for the Sorbian People in 2015. The director Anne-Kathrin Schöler-Rensch and the director of photohtaphy Clemens Schiesko were present for the screening.
