Polish cinema between arthouse and genre, history and politics

Between arthouse and Netflix production, current Polish cinema continously takes on socially controversial topics.

In doing so, it skilfully combines auteur film and genre, building bridges between arthouse and commercial cinema. Streaming providers and television channels such as TVN are becoming important players alongside state film funding. This creates new synergies and perspectives for producers and filmmakers, but also a competitive situation with traditional cinema and festivals. A panel discussion on the occasion of the "Polskie Horyzonty" section at the FilmFestival Cottbus - How is the Polish film landscape changing and to what extent are these changes a pilot project for other European countries?
