Open-Air-cinema at the Spreewälder Filmsommer started!

This summer, the Spreewald region will be transformed to an huge Open-Air-Cinema. In cooperation with the FilmFestival Cottbus, the charitable club  “Verein für Film- und Medienpädagogik Cottbus e.V.” offers hilarious, emotional and funny European movies at different Open-Air-Locations in the Spreewald region from 3rd June to 6th October. The season started already at Hafen 2 in Lübben, with a favorite of the 23rd edition of FilmFestival Cottbus in 2013, the comedic movie „THE PRIESTS CHILDREN“.

Behind the project stands the wish to combine movie and event on a special place. The atmosphere of the Spreewald offers our audience an beautiful and mystical area. With the program selection, the Verein für Film- und Medienpädagogik Cottbus e.V. wants to contribute to intercultural communication and tolerance. Therefore, the revenues of the project will be invested in cultural education and film workshops for children and students within the region of Spreewald. Andreas Stein, Chairman of the Verein für Film- und Medienpädagogik Cottbus e.V., appreciates the support of the FilmFestival Cottbus Programme Department: “With the help of the FilmFestival Cottbus Programme Department, we are able to offer funny, exciting and emotional movie nights in the open air.”

Part of the selection will be the Winner of U18-Youth-Film Competition of 25th FilmFestival Cottbus, 4 KÖNIGE by Theresa von Eltz, as well as Dalibor Matanic´ multiple awarded MITTAGSSONNE | THE HIGH SUN, the german blockbuster comedy WILLKOMMEN BEI DEN HARTMANN´S, the french comedy THE AFRICAN DOCTOR and the Berlinale-awarded PARADA, by Srdjan Dragojević.

The venues of the Spreewälder Filmsommer will be at Schlossberg Luckau, Haus Burglehn Lübben, the grand harbor in Schlepzig and the famous Castle at Groß Leuthen.

The Spreewälder Filmsommer is supported by Stiftung Dahme Spreewald of the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse, the Brandenburgische Landeszentrale für politische Bildung, Landkreis Dahme-Spreewald, Bündnis für Brandenburg, the City of Luckau and the Trägerverein der Musikstiftung Brandenburg, as well as Aquamediale.
