FLOW Brings Latvia International Success

The Latvian animated film FLOW by Gints Zilbalodis is causing a worldwide sensation and has made it onto the shortlist for "Best International Feature Film ’ at the 97th Academy Awards. This makes FLOW the first film from Latvia to be included in the prestigious selection of the best international feature films at the Oscars. The film also qualifies for the "Best Feature-Length Animated Film ’ category. The nominations will be announced on 17 January 2024 . FLOW was presented in the Spectrum section of the 34th FilmFestival Cottbus.

International recognition for FLOW

FLOW has already won Best ‘European Animated Feature Film of the Year’ at the European Film Academy Awards 2024 . FLOW is also the first Latvian film to be nominated for the Golden Globes. The film also caused a stir at the Goya Awards in Spain as the only animated entry in the ‘Best European Film’ category - another first for Latvia. The film has received more than 40 international awards to date.
