THE ORDINARIES, the first feature film by Sophie Linnenbaum, was awarded the First Step Award for Best Feature Film on 26 September.
Linnenbaum was responsible for the festival trailer at the 2015 FilmFestival Cottbus, which picked up on the then focus theme "Eastern Europe of Cities".
THE ORDINARIES is an experimental social satire, a role play of the film characters in the literal and metaphorical sense - who is assigned which role and who gets lost behind it?
The First Step Awards are presented annually to graduating films by students at film schools in German-speaking countries.
THE ORDINARIES was made as a graduation film by the Babelsberg Konrad Wolf Film Academy in co-production with ZDF - Das Kleine Fernsehspiel and Bandenfilm-Filmproduktion. It’s international premiere was screened at this year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
