Under the title "German Cinema - Německe kino - German Cinema", the FilmFestival Cottbus will present a program with four German feature films and five short films at Finále Pilsen (20th to 26th April). The series was developed in cooperation with the most important national film festival of the Czech Republic and is supported by the German-Czech Future Fund. The program includes Pepe Danquart 's RUN, BOY, RUN, the opening film of the FilmFestival Cottbus 2013, Theresa von Eltz' 4 KINGS and Jakob Schmidt 's STORM CELLS, the winner film of the Cottbus youth film competitions in 2015 and 2016. Angelika Schusters ZMIJ / DRAGON, one of the winners of the 2016 Cottbus Film Show, is a promising example for a short film from the Cottbus region, shot in Lower Sorbian language. Duc Ngo Ngoc's OBST & GEMÜSE will throw a spotlight at the focus sectoon of the FilmFestival Cottbus 2017, which will deal with the Vietnamese diaspora in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. Some of the filmmakers are present.
Bernd Buder, Program Director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, will join the Finále Pilsen from 22nd to 25th April to look for current Czech and Slovak films and to participate as an expert in the "Czech Springboard" event. Seven Czech projects will be presented in the closed event. Subsequently, the film centers of Serbia, Lithuania and Ukraine present funding opportunities for co-productions with their countries.
