The Tbilisi International Film Festival will take place for the 18th time from 4th to 10th of December. The renowned festival in the Georgian capital presents an extensive program in 13 sections, from the European feature film competition, the “French Collection” and a presentation of contemporary Hungarian cinema to the “Horizons”, which show current trends in South American and Asian cinema, and the section "Arts", which explores the border areas between film and art. Current Georgian films are shown in the "Georgian Panorama". The German cinema is represented with the series "Apollo - Cinema Memories", which presents highlights of German film history from Josef von Sternberg's THE BLUE ANGEL to Helma Sanders-Brahms GERMANY, PALE MOTHER. Ulrich and Erika Gregor, connected to the Georgian Cinema and the Tbilisi Film Festival for decades, let their memories pass in the lecture "Memories of German Cinema - Conversation with Erika and Ulrich Gregor". With ARRHYTMIA, THE POMEGRANATTE ORCHARD (both in the "Forum of European Cinema" section), 8 MINUTES, KHIBULA ("Georgian Panorama"), KILLS ON WHEELS and LIZA, THE FOX FAIRY ("Country in Focus - Hungary") are quite a few films in the program, which ran in recent years at the FilmFestival Cottbus.
The Tbilis International Film Festival is flanked by the "Industry Days", where, in addition to various masterclasses (among the lecturers are Denis Côté and Fred Kelemen), workshops and panel discussions, a number of feature and short film projects are pitched. Bernd Buder, program director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, is part of the jury for the feature film pitchings. The FilmFestival Cottbus will throw a spotlight on the current Georgian cinema in its next issue.
