From 10-14 June, Cottbus' Polish twin city Zielona Góra will host the 11th Kozzi Krafftówna Łomnicki Film and Theatre Festival, named after the Polish genre actor Maciej Kozłowski, who died in 2010 and in whose birthplace of Kargowa the festival was founded in 2013 as the "Kozzi Gangsta Festival".
Since then, the FilmFestival Cottbus has been cooperating with the organisers of the festival, which now takes place in Zielona Góra. This year, in addition to Kozłowski, the works of the actors Barbara Krafftówna and Tadeusz Łomnicki are the focus of the tributes. At the same time, current Polish and German films will be screened. In two competitions, prizes will be awarded for the best Polish film and the best Polish crime film - with this format, the Kozzi Festival has dedicated itself since the beginning to the action genre, which is often underrepresented in the international festival landscape.
Our deputy programme director Joshua Jádi will be on site from 10 - 13 June. As part of the festival partnership, Joshua Jádi will present a selection of current German films in Zielona Góra. Among them are NEBENAN (2021) by Daniel Brühl, DIE SAAT (2021) by Mia Maariel Meyer and EXILE (2021) by Visar Morina.
