This year's winners of the "Alexander Lifka" Award for an outstanding contribution to European cinema are Serbian writer, screenwriter and director Dušan Kovačević and French director Michel Hazanavicius. The regional Lifka Prize, awarded for the second time this year, goes to actor Igor Galo.

In addition to his jury duties, Joshua Jádi will participate in the MIOB TikTok and Social Media Workshop. He is also particularly looking forward to the ECO DOX section, where 6 documentaries are dedicated to ecological issues. The FilmFestival Cottbus will launch its own section for the first time in November under the name EcoEast with a focus on ecological films from Eastern Europe.

During the FilmFestival in Palic, the MIOB New Vison Award will also be presented. This is dedicated to current European feature films and documentaries that have already had a successful appearance at at least one of the participating festivals of the MOVING IMAGES - OPEN BORDERS (MIOB) festival network. The prize brings the winning film broad international recognition and is awarded by the festival organizers. The MIOB NEW VISION AWARD is endowed with 3.000 Euro.

Background MIOB:

Behind MIOB is the festival network MOVING IMAGES - OPEN BORDERS. The passion for young cinema from Europe and the desire to give it a worthy platform unites the seven members. With the Crossing Europe Filmfestival Linz (AT), Festival de Sevilla (ES), European Film Festival Palić (RS), Les Arcs European Film Festival (FR), Scanorama European Film Forum (LT), Trieste Film Festival (IT) and the FilmFestival Cottbus (DE), many years of competence and experience are combined, which is used to discuss and further develop topics of the future such as audience building, environmental and climate protection, gender and diversity programming and questions of digital communication. This has been recognized and supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA program of the European Union since fall 2020. In addition to the professional exchange of film festivals, MIOB naturally supports films and their makers.
