FFC cooperates with the University of Potsdam for the YURT-screening in Berlin

As part of the ‘Film Critical Writing’ seminar, master's students from the University of Potsdam have organised a special film screening in cooperation with the Cottbus Film Festival. On 12 March 2025, they will present the Turkish coming-of-age film YURT (DORMITORY) as a preview and Berlin premiere at the Moviemento cinema.

The film, directed by Nehir Tuna, is set in Turkey in the 1990s and explores themes such as finding one's identity, generational conflicts, tensions between secularism and religious conservatism and the struggle between personal freedom and collective identity. The film was screened at the FFC 2024 in the U18 Youth Film Competition.

The screening will be followed by a film talk where the audience will have the opportunity to discuss the film's complex themes with programme director Bernd Buder and the curators Jonas Müller, Ronja Göttlicher and Hanna Körner.

Date: 12 March 2025, 6:30 pm
