IFF FEBIOFEST Bratislava 2021

While the renowned international film festival "Febiofest" in Bratislava, founded in 1993, had to be cancelled for the second time due to the Covid19 pandemic, the IFF Febiofest Bratislava Industry Days will get underway on March 29 and 30 - online, of course.

The event will be held for the sixth time. Eleven new projects from Slovakia will be presented to the international industry - consisting of festival representatives, funders, world distributors and potential co-producers. The projects are in various stages of development or production. Six of them are feature films (including one short film) and five are documentaries (including one short film). This year's edition will feature the new Best Febio Pitch Award, worth 3,000 euros. Bernd Buder, program director of the FFC, will sit on the jury along with Renata Santoro, film scholar and Head of Programming at the Giornate degli Autori, the independent section of the Venice Film Festival, and Hugo Rosák, Head of Industry Office at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Ondrej Starinský, the artistic director of Febiofest, expresses his hope for better times in his country. Here, cinemas have been closed since last fall: "Although we can't see films in theatres right now, we can still talk about them, imagine them and look forward to their future screenings. Whether in the cinema hall or on the computer, good projects always find recognition, even if they are presented from another continent. Let's look forward to when we can see them in theatres again. Some hopefully next year at Febiofest in Bratislava, offline, live and together with many other viewers." This hope is echoed by the FFC.
