Berlin has a Turkish Film Festival again.
More than five years after the Turkish Film Week Berlin was discontinued, a young team has come together to bring current Turkish cinema to Berlin and thus promote intercultural exchange.
The FilmFestival Cottbus also shows how exciting Turkish cinema is. Turkish cinema has been a regular part of the program there since 2019, and in 2021 a close-up was dedicated to the very different facets of the film landscape between the Bosporus and Anatolia, the Black Sea coast and the Sea of Marmara. Between commercial successes in the millions and contemplative reflection, an extremely diverse range of cinematic nuances emerges each year, both artistically and in terms of content.
The first Turkish Film Festival Berlin will take place from September 14 to 18 and will show a total of 17 current feature and documentary films and two short film programs, including the feature films COMMITMENT HASAN, IT'S ALL ABOUT PEACE AND HARMONY, LOVE, SPELLS AND ALL THAT, PURE WHITE,THE ANNOUNCEMENT and the German-produced short film STILETTO, which were also shown at the FilmFestival Cottbus in previous years.
We wish the makers of this new festival initiative good luck - iyi başarılar!
