The Best Film award at Crossing Europe goes to BREAD AND SALT, which won Best Director at FilmFestival Cottbus 2022.
Damian Kocur PL, 2022, 100 min.Polish kebab stall racism meets successful young pianist with a hip-hop look. Tymek visits his prefab home and discovers that, apart from his love for the piano, he no longer has much in common with his brother Jacek. Stylishly, the film composes a clique dynamic between party, aggression and peer pressure, by which Tymek finally gets carried away - with tragic consequences.
The Audience Award goes to SAFE PLACE, which won Best Film at the FFC.
Juraj Lerotić HR/SI, 2022, 102 min.Loss Log. When Damir makes his suicide attempt, the brother is there just in time to save him. Together with the mother he takes care of the wounded soul, with indulgence, but also helplessly. At the same time, a struggle with the health bureaucracy begins - here a small gesture of empathy, there the body language of institutional routine. A film that goes into detail - and under the skin.
And SILENT LOVE, which screened in Cottbus at "Polskie Horyzonty," won the Social Awareness Award in Linz, shared with "We Will Not Fade Away."
