From March 16 to 18, 2025, Meeting Point Vilnius took place as part of the Lithuanian film festival Kino Pavasaris - an important industry platform at which 21 works-in-progress and projects in development from the region as well as ten new Lithuanian films were presented. Bernd Buder, Program Director of FilmFestival Cottbus, was on site as a jury member.
“Together with Beatrice Fiorentino (Venice International Film Critics' Week) and Jacques Jagou (mk2), I was able to be part of one of the two juries - a great experience. The expectations for the completed films were high, as I had found Eglė Vertelytė's TASTY, a warm-hearted satirical reckoning with the flimsy recipes for success of commercial TV shows, and Ignas Miskinis' SOUTHERN CHRONICLES here at Meeting Point Vilnius a year ago. The trenchant coming-of-age story from the Lithuanian industrial province had its world premiere at the Cottbus 2024 Film Festival and has become the most successful Lithuanian film of the last 14 years in its country of production, selling well over 350,000 tickets.” - Bernd Buder
While SOUTHERN CHRONICLES (34th FFC Feature Film Competition) proved to be a hit with audiences, Kino Pavasaris also reported impressive audience figures: by March 18, 100,000 visitors had already attended Lithuania's largest film festival, which continues until March 23. Among the new films presented to international festival programmers in closed screenings at Meeting Point Vilnius are some promising projects that are likely to celebrate their international premieres soon.
