The 29th Trieste Film Festival takes place from January 19th to 28th. Marcel Maïga, curator of the section Russkiy Den and the Special Belarus of the FilmFestival Cottbus, is also a guest at the most important Italian festival for films from Eastern Central and Eastern Europe, for research purposes in Trieste.

This year's edition of the Trieste Film Festival also includes films from the 27th FilmFestival Cottbus: BREAKING NEWS, DAYBREAK, OUT (all feature film competition at FFC) as well as RECONCILIATION and ARRHYTHMIA (Polskie Horyzonty and Russkiy Den) will compete. In the short film competition, the Trieste Film Festival shows POLA (at the 27th FFC also presents short feature film competition). With THE BEKSINSKIS, another contribution of the Polskie Horyzonty of FFC 2017 is represented in the section "Arts and Sound".

A total of 15 prizes will be awarded in three competitions and six further sections at the Trieste Film Festival. At the same time as the film festival, 25 filmmakers present their projects on the coproduction market "When East Meets West".
