Today a full day of great films awaits us. Films from Kazakhstan are being shown in this year's Close-Up series. Here, slacker comedy meets pop folklore and silent protest encounters historical genre thrillers. At 5 pm, the documentary DER WEITE WEG ZURÜCK will be shown at the Glad House (tickets available via the link to the film title). During the subsequent SlowTalk with Alexej Getmann (director of DER WEITE WEG ZURÜCK), Ira Peter (blogger, influencer, journalist specialising in Russian-German topics) and Edwin Warkentin (cultural mediator, head of the cultural department for Russian-Germans) in the Glad House, "Steppenkinder. The Aussiedler Podcast" will be recorded live.
The Spektrum section shows films that are anything but ordinary. In TAMARA, director Jonas Ludwig Walter tells the story of East German biographies and their ruptures from the perspective of a woman born in 1990. TAMARA will be screened at 4.30 pm in the Weltspiegel (Großer Saal).
CLARA CLARA is the story of a young Romanian woman who leaves her home country and her child to earn money in Germany. A film about the losses suffered by migrant workers and their families, but also their wishes and desires. CLARA will be screened at 7 pm at the Weltspiegel (Großer Saal).
THE CHOICE, which will be shown at 22:30 in the Weltspiegel (theatre 2), is an independently produced one-man chamber drama thriller from Russia about a country caught in financial crisis.
Don't miss out on this diverse programme!
