At last, the 33rd FilmFestival Cottbus begins today! The FFC will be officially opened at 7pm in the Cottbus State Theatre. Admission is by invitation only. But great films from our programme will already be showing in all venues from 5 pm! You can buy tickets online on our website and at the venues themselves. Simply click on the respective film title!
A real highlight in our programme today is the Polish documentary film VIKA!, which tells the story of Poland's oldest DJane at the age of 84, including performances in the coolest nightclubs in Warsaw.
In the road movie THE START, an athletics coach recognises the running talent of two brothers on the run from the police and tries to teach them discipline - which is no easy feat.
In DANGEROUS GENTLEMEN, four artists in Zakopane wake up in 1914 after a night of drinking and find an unknown dead body in their living room. A fast-paced "Hangover" variation with a high-calibre Polish cast who clearly enjoy the game of confusion.
International guests and jury members are already arriving today. Here you can see from left to right: Nana Janelidze, member of the International Festival Jury; director Nejc Gazvoda from the U18 competition film ROLE MODEL; Volodymyr Bakum, director of the Eco-East film BARTKA and Matthias Heine, director of BADEN GEHEN (together with Clemens Schiesko).
