Film off in Cottbus! The 34th FilmFestival Cottbus is in the starting blocks. The opening ceremony will take place in the evening at 7 pm in the Cottbus State Theatre. But the best new films from Eastern and Central Europe will already be showing in our venues from 4.30 pm. Here are a few programme tips:
The opening film of the FFC, MY LATE SUMMER (HR/BA/RO/SI/RS, 2024, 98 min), by Oscar-winner Danis Tanović, will be shown in the Stadthalle at 8 pm, parallel to the opening ceremony in the Staatstheater. In the Mediterranean setting of a Croatian Adriatic island, a small group experiences nostalgic summer moments - a romantic film experience with screenwriter and leading actress Anja Matković, who is also a member of the international festival jury.
In Weltspiegel Saal 2 at 19:30, Daniel Abma, director and member of the dialogue jury, will present the moving documentary THE FAMILY APPROACH (DE, 2024, 91 min), which follows the life of a children's residential group.
In addition to the film highlights, Amnesty International is opening the exhibition Ukraine - Everyday Life in War in the Stadthalle, which offers an intensive insight into the lives of people in Ukraine.
The first film guests have arrived. Among others the leading actress of ‘Bikechess’ from the ‘Competition Feature Film’, Saltanat Nauruz.
