From the 20th to the 29th January, the Trieste Film Festival will be held for the 28th time. The festival in the north-eastern Italian metropolis on the border to Slovenia is dedicated to the cinema of Southeast and East Europe. This year, the Romanian director Cristi Puiu and the Russian documentary film director Vitaly Manskij are invited as honorable guests, many other directors from the film program are expected. The program features some Cottbus films, including Mirjana Karanović's A GOOD WIFE (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia 2016), Szabolcs Hajdus IT'S NOT THE TIME OF MY LIFE and Damjan Kozoles NIGHTLIFE in competition, Žiga Vircs HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM in documentary competition, Attila Tills KILLS ON WHEELS and Ivan I. Tverdovsky's ZOOLOGY in the section "Genre Surprises" and Jan P. Matuszyński's THE LAST FAMILY in the section "Art and Sound". The festival is flanked by the coproduction market "When East Meets West". The film industry meeting point will present approx. 25 current feature and documentary film projects while current industry topics are discussed. This year, the Baltic States will be in focus.
