From March 22th to 26th, the 15th International Football Film Festival "11 mm" will take place in Berlin. The thematic focus is on the relationship between "Football & Power": "On the occasion of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, we look at the political aspects of football and the often critical relationship between football and power," explains festival director Birger Schmidt. Other focal points are the "Day of British Football Films" and the "Football in Russian Film" series, which presents seven feature films and documentaries from 54 years of football film history from the host country of this year's World Cup.
For the first time, a jury prize will be awarded for the six competition entries, while the 11mm shortkicks gala traditionally marks the end of the festival. The event will present the best football short films of the year. A jury of footballers, festival organisers, journalists and actors will select the winning film. Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, will be taking part this year, alongside Bernard Dietz (former professional & European champion), Alina Schwermer (journalist and author), Wotan Wilke Möhring (actor) and a current player from the Hertha BSC Berlin soccer team.
