This year, the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in Cottbus' twin city of Saarbrücken has joined in with its expertise and has also recommended some films from its programme this year. The spectrum ranges from a short feature film about the former German-German border to the portrait of a German of Iranian origin who is looking for strategies to defend herself after a racist attack, to SCHÖNBORN, which was shown online at the FFC last year. In Pilsen, Maxim Melnyk's documentary about the village of Schönborn in Brandenburg and the village of the same name in Transcarpathia is now coming to the big screen. The Finále Pilsen takes place from 24th -29th of September.
At a German-Czech filmmakers' and producers' meeting, the three festivals will discuss the current state of affairs and the prospects for German-Czech co-productions. In addition to funding opportunities for joint film projects, content-related prerequisites will also be debated: which German content is interesting for a Czech audience and vice versa? The dialogue between filmmakers from both countries will be continued at the FilmFestival Cottbus and the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival. In Pilsen, the discussion is part of the Industry Days, which take place from 24th -29th of September. The core is the "Czech Springboard", in which young filmmakers present their new projects and receive feedback from international experts - distributors, film funders, producers and festival representatives. Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, is among the invited experts.
