The 28th Filmkunstfest MV in Schwerin will once again provide a wide-ranging insight into current German-language cinema from May 1st to 6th. Among the guests of honour are the actor Henry Hübchen, the directors Andreas Dresen and Dani Levy and Heinz Brinkmann, veterans of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania cinema.
Georgia presents itself as the guest country. The programme, compiled in cooperation with the Batumi International Arthouse Film Festival, shows over twenty films from and about Georgia - from Mikhail Kalatosov's silent film THE SALT OF SWANETIA to Jürgen Böttcher's DEFA documentary classic IN GEORGIA and current films such as THE HOUSE OF OTHERS and KHIBULA, which have also been shown at the FilmFestival Cottbus.
As part of the 4th Industry Conference Film & Media, a panel discussion on May 4th will deal with "Co-productions with Eastern Europe using the example of Georgia - chances and risks". The panel will be moderated by Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, the director Dito Tsintsadze, Britta Erich (Creative Europe Desk Hamburg), the producer Eike Goretzka (42film) and the distributor Torsten Frehse (Neue Visionen Filmverleih) will discuss. The FilmFestival Cottbus will also focus on Georgia, which this year is also the guest country of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
