Cinedays” took place for the 23rd time in the North Macedonian capital Skopje from July 12-17.

In two competitions, the festival presents European and Southeast European feature film debuts and second feature films in the widest possible range, from genre films to animation and auteur cinema.

In the international competition, THE CITY by Amit Ulman from Israel won the main prize, a fast-paced homage to film noir in the narrative rhythm of rap. Noe Debre was awarded Best Director for his A GOOD JEWISH BOY (France). In the Balkan competition, the Turkish film DORMITORY by Nehir Tuna, an autobiographical reflection on a childhood between a religious and a secular school, won.

The supporting program featured new films by old masters from Cronenberg to Wenders, Cannes hits such as Mohammad Raloussof's THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIGS and a selection of current films from the region, including the Montenegrin blockbuster FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE.

Bernd Buder, Program Director of the FFC, made a stop in Skopje: “With its friendly atmosphere, the ‘Cinedays’ are an ideal place to network and to get information about current films from North Macedonia and the region.”
