Veszprém-Balaton Filmpiknik is Hungary's newest film festival, the very first cultural cinema event of the 2023 European Capital of Culture Veszprém-Balaton.
From 3 to 5 September the most famous Hungarian film classics and a selection of the best films from 2019 and 2020 will be screened, including FOMO and TALL TALES – films from the 29th FFC edition. The jury of the Veszprém-Balaton Filmpiknik also includes a well-known face – our last year's International Jury member Péter Muszatics!
Some of the screenings will take place in a beautiful, unique outdoor setting: in the castle of Veszprém and on the Tagore promenade in Balatonfüred on Lake Balaton.
Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 infections, the Hungarian government has decided to close the country's borders in September. We regret not being able to visit our colleagues for their first festival edition as planned. However, we respect the measures taken, which show that, regardless of political orientations, international support is being given to regulations against the spread of the virus. We wish our colleagues in Veszprém every success, hope for a positive outcome of the health policy measures and hope for an early continuation of the creative exchange.
Those interested can find out more about the programme on the website www.filmpiknik.hu (in Hungarian).
