75th Berlinale: A Film Festival Cottbus Recap

75th Berlinale: A Film Festival Cottbus Recap

The 75th Berlinale came to an end on Sunday - eleven days full of intensive film screenings, exciting industry meetings and inspiring discussions. The FFC was once again on site to discover new films, make contacts and gather ideas for the upcoming festival program.

Program Director Bernd Buder draws a positive conclusion:

“In addition to film screenings and meetings at the European Film Market (EFM), the many networking events surrounding the Berlinale are highlights where great contacts can be made - all in the search for fresh program content.”

There were special encounters at the reception of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin with Competition director Radu Jude (Kontinental '25) and Cultural Institute director Cristian Niculescu. The discussions with Emilia Weirich (Program Manager Feature Films and Documentaries) and Louise Lindlar (Head of MOP-Industry) from the Max Ophüls Preis Saarbrücken Film Festival were also enriching.

Buder's summary of this year's Berlinale:

“Many interesting films, many good contacts, many discussions - including, due to the complex political situations and their consequences for the individual, many touching, thought-provoking ones. In addition, many new films that are currently in production and will soon see the light of day on screens, including those of the Cottbus Film Festival.”
